Florence, Uffizi Gallery

The Uffizi Gallery has important collections of German, Dutch and Flemish painters, which include the two oil paintings on wooden panels lent for the Pieter de Witte exhibition: Prophet Elisha, by Giovanni Stradano on a draft design by Giorgio Vasari and the Portrait of Giuliano de'Medici Duke of Nemours by Pieter de Witte.

Florence, Pitti Palace, Palatine Gallery

The Palatine Gallery, that occupies the whole left wing of the first floor of the Pitti Palace, has lent the Delivery by Saint Elisabeth and, from the Tapestry store the Time holds Minerva in chains (Series of the Tales of Saint Clement VII) created by Benedetto on draft design and cartoon by Giovanni Stradano.

Florence, Museum of the 'Cenacolo' by Andrea del Sarto (Monastery of San Michele and San Salvi)

This museum which is situated in several rooms of the ex-monastery of San Salvi, is named after the fresco representing the Last Supper painted by Andrea del Sarto between 1526 and 1527, and situated on one of the walls of the refectory. From the depository of the Museum of the 'Cenacolo' comes the oil on canvas by Pieter de Witte, Holy Family with the young Saint John and Saint Elisabeth.

Naples, Museo di Capodimonte

The Museum and the National Gallery of Capodimonte, open to the public since 1957, are amongst the most important Italian art galleries, and house one oil painting on canvas by Pietro Candido, the Holy Family with the young Saint John, which will be part of the exhibition in Volterra.

Volterra, Town Art Gallery

The Town Art Gallery is situated in Volterra in Palazzo Minacci Solaini, which dates to the late 1400s and has a singular architectural style. This gallery houses works of art of both historical and artistic interest, amongst which two oil paintings on canvas by Pieter de Witte, Lament over the lifeless Christ, and the Adoration of the Shepherds, which will be displayed in the exhibition

Paris, Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum houses a collection of numerous drawings and copies of drawings by Pieter de Witte. The Louvre Museum has lent three refined ink drawings on paper: Woman on her knees, Angel with crown and palm, and a study for the Lament over the lifeless Christ, signed and with an original annotation by the Flemish artist.

Munich, Alte Pinakothek

The Alte Pinakothek, besides exhibiting one of the most important collections of paintings in Munich, is one of the most ancient and extraordinary art galleries the world over. It is not an enormous building but it holds a great quantity of famous paintings, amongst which two of the most beautiful oil paintings on canvas by Pieter de Witte: the Portrait of the Duchess Magdalene and Japhta's Daughter.

Munich, Bayerische Natinalmuseum

The Bavarian National Museum, thanks to its collections of art and cultural history, is one of the most important museums in Europe. It houses about 18,000 works of art, divided between more than 100 rooms. Amongst which the tapestry depicting The Autumn, created by Pieter de Witte, is to be found. Further it houses also a tapestry representing The Night, based on a cartoon by the artist, and a number of paintings on canvas, such as the Allegory of the Falconry.

Munich, Reiche Kapelle in the Residenz

Thanks to its 130 rooms, open to visitors, the Residenz of Monaco is one of the biggest royal palaces in Europe, where the Wittelsbach family, Dukes of Bavaria lived up until 1918. The Reiche Kapelle is home to the silver statue, Archangel Michael. It was created by a 17th century artist, from a drawing by Federico Sustris.

Munich, Graphische Sammlung

About 400,000 sheets covering all historical periods, from the Middle Ages to the Modern period, make the collection of the Graphische Sammlung one of the most important drawing and print collections in Europe. Particularly significant is the collection of studies and preliminary drawings that Pieter de Witte made for the tapestry collection of the Wittelsbach family and for large paintings, which are located in churches and ducal residences of the court in Munich.

Vienna, Grafische Sammlung Albertina

The Albertina Museum is situated in the Erzherzog Albrecht palace in the city centre of Vienna. It houses one of the largest and most important collections of graphic art the world over, with about 65,000 drawings and about a million pieces of graphic art. The watercolour drawing by Federico Sustris, a preliminary study for the Archangel Michael, has been lent for the exhibition on Pietro Candido.

Bremen, Kunsthalle Bremen

The Kunsthalle Bremen is an important museum for ancient, modern and contemporary art, and is situated in an imposing building from the early 1900s. It has lent a drawing by Pieter de Witte, a preliminary study of monk figures, which probably was preparatory for the Lament over the lifeless Christ, painted by the Flemish artist in 1585 in Volterra.

Leipzig, Museum der Bildenden Künste

The Foundation of the Museum der Bildenden Künste (Art Gallery) dates to 1837. Its 7,000 square metres of exhibition area house 3,500 paintings, 1,000 sculptures and 60,000 pieces of graphic art, amongst which a watercolour drawing by Pieter de Witte, a preliminary study for the Adoration of the Shepherds in Volterra.
